Oh my gosh, first of all, everybody plan a weekend getaway to The Purple Fiddle in Thomas, West Virginia. This place is a true gem. The population of this town is about 577, and apparently they are 577 of just about the sweetest people you will ever encounter. And not only sweet, but seriously know how to have a good time. Everybody was up and dancing from the very first song of The Spring Standards and just got more and more amped up and enthused as the night went on. The audience gave us such a warm, welcoming reception and made us feel right at home here. Getting up there and joining the Standards on their encore of "I Shall Be Released" was a moment that will not be forgotten in my life. That's one of those musical moments where you are just overcome this joy to be participating in something so big, beyond ourselves, just feeling the power of music and creating music with one another. Whew. Pretty special. The celebrating and music and jamming continued long into the night. Looking forward to a long nap in the van today as we travel these winding roads of West Virginia and make our way down to Asheville.
Gotta say it again...so grateful to be doing what I'm doing with the people I am doing it with. Grateful, humbled, so happy.
